Man charged with aggravated assault for threatening a police officer

BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX) – Bryan police say a 66-year-old man was arrested Friday after he threatened to kill an officer.

According to a police report, an officer was responding to a criminal mischief call at a restaurant in the 500 block of Sulphur Springs Road, when she found Jim Davis hiding behind a tree in the parking lot.

The officer said Davis tried to walk away when he was questioned. She says after several commands to stop, Davis turned around and aggressively walked toward her. She says he then pulled a silver flashlight from his pocket and said, “You better call back-up.” She says he pulled the flashlight out at her, “as if he was preparing to strike her in the head.”

The defendant reportedly yelled, “I’m going to kill you!”

The officer called for back-up and Davis was later arrested.

Davis was charged with aggravated assault against a public servant and evading arrest.
