Man falls asleep in Whataburger drive-thru, arrested for DWI

COLLEGE STATION, Tex. (KBTX) - A College Station man was arrested early Sunday, after he was found asleep in the Whataburger drive-thru line.

Officials say around 4:40 a.m., an officer inside the Whataburger located at 4471 SH 6 was notified by employees that someone was passed out in their vehicle while in the drive-thru.

The College Station police officer went outside to find Robert Lee Mahoney asleep at the wheel with the car still running.

Whataburger employees were eventually able to wake Mahoney up by knocking on his window.

According to the officer, Mahoney admitted to consuming three beers before operating his vehicle.

After performing standardized field sobriety testing, Mahoney was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

He is being held on a $3,000 bond.
