Brazos County Sheriff's Deputies have confirmed a man's body has been recovered in a private pond in Brazos County. The discovery comes after a child's body was also found in the lake Wednesday night.

The pair was reported missing just after 7 p.m. by the child's mother, who said the man and her 3-year-old son had gone fishing earlier in the day in the Falls Creek Ranch neighborhood; but had not returned home.

Brazos County Sheriff Chris Kirk said when crews arrived on scene, they performed a water rescue attempt and the child was found rather quickly by the Bryan Fire Department. The child was rushed to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Crews continued searching for the man until 1:00 a.m. Thursday. They suspended the search until daylight.

A dive team from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department assisted in the search Thursday morning and the man's body was found around 8:45 a.m. in the pond.

According to officials, the man has been identified as Omar Martinez and an autopsy has been ordered.

Officials have not released the identity of the child.

At this time, it is suspected that both Mr. Martinez and the child were fishing at the pond in a small boat. It appears there were no flotation devices being utilized and the boat capsized and eventually sank.

Preliminary reports indicate both subjects died as a result of drowning. The investigation into this case is ongoing, and no foul play is suspected.
