COLLEGE STATION, Tex. (KBTX) - A new year means new businesses are breaking ground in the community. From restaurants to retail, much is in store.
South College Station residents are getting some new options on places to eat.
Chef Tai Lee's newest restaurant is taking shape on Barron Road.
Urban Table plans to serve some food you know.
"Urban table will be focusing a lot on the new American cuisine, so things that you are already familiar with. A burger, pork chop, steaks seafood, but we'll try to utilize you know creative ingredients," said Lee, who is also an Executive Chef.
It's his first restaurant expansion in the south of town.
"As far a restaurant grows this will be the fourth brick and mortar restaurant," he said.
Over on Rock Prairie Road at Highway 6 Row House Fitness Studio opens in February. You'll also be able to grab a bite to eat next door to that. The area's First Jersey Mike's is under construction.
"We're super excited to bring the option to town, freshly sliced, hot and cold subs. We've got fresh Philly cheese steaks, got fresh roast beef that we cook here in house just really, really good," said Franchisee Jared Steffen.
He told KBTX the growth in the area is exciting.
"I think all the new businesses coming to town, giving us more options, keeping this community a close-knit community and keeping everybody here in town and keeping the money here locally is great," said Steffen.
If you're looking for a stylish way to cruise to all these new places. A new Mercedez-Benz and BMW Dealership will open later this year along Highway 6 north of Rock Prairie Road.
Near the car dealership, a Cooper's Old Time Pit BBQ opens this summer.
"It's exciting that people are obviously buying into the whole idea of growth in Bryan / College Station area," said Lee.
Urban Table opens in about two months while Jersey Mike's was set to open on January 23rd. Monday morning the restaurant contacted KBTX to say they'll now open January 30th. Jersey Mike's tells us they'll partner with Scotty's House during their grand opening.
