COLLEGE STATION, Tex. (KBTX) - A murder warrant was issued Tuesday in the homicide investigation of a College Station woman on New Year's Eve.
Ricardo Ramirez was arrested after being found with a gun stolen on the same day as Ashli Stewart's death in College Station.
The warrant is connected to the death investigation of Ashli Stewart, 20, who was found deceased inside her apartment on the afternoon of Dec. 31, 2019.
The warrant was served to Ricardo Ramirez, 23, who was already being held in the county detention center on multiple charges.
Police considered Ramirez to be a person of interest in the case early in the investigation.
Stewart's roommate found her deceased inside their apartment in the 1300 block of Harvey Mitchell Parkway. Investigators have not publicly released the manner in which she was killed.
Ramirez was arrested on Jan. 7 after officers found he was in possession of a pistol that was reported stolen on the same day of Stewart's murder. He was also in possession of illegal narcotics.
During their investigation, police said they also discovered child pornography on a device that was in Ramirez's vehicle.
Ramirez, a College Station resident, remains in jail on bonds that total nearly half a million dollars.
