A New Orleans original has made its way to College Station.

Dat Dog is now open in the Northgate District and the are serving up gourmet hot dogs, burgers, and fries. You can go with traditional beef, but they've also got specialty sausages like crawfish, alligator, and duck on the menu.

There are over thirty toppings to choose from. You can build your own dog, try a house special, or ask them to make it Chef's Choice and they will dress it for you.

Between the nine different types of sausages and specialty sauces and toppings, these hot dogs are far from typical.

"When I think of hot dogs, I think of concession stands at baseball games when I was growing up. That was one hand and a napkin and this is literally two hands a knife and fork in most instances," explained Dat Dog general manager Kent Chambless.

At Dat Dog, you'll find that the burgers are served in a sausage shape and on a hot dog bun. They use a sushi rolling mat to form the ground beef into a hot dog shape.

They also offer vegetarian and vegan options. There is a Spicy Chipotle Dog, a Field Roast Italian Dog, and a Smoked Apple Sage.

Dat Dog also has a full bar with thirty-two beers on tap, frozen drinks, and a list of specialty cocktails. Happy hour is everyday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. During happy hour PBR and Lonestars are $2, frozen margaritas are $4 and there is a list of ten hot dogs that are $5.

Dat Dog is located at 101 Church Avenue, Suite 1200 in College Station. They are on the bottom floor of The Domain apartment building.

Dat Dog is open from 11:00 a.m. to midnight Sunday trough Wednesday and from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.
