Navasota Police Chief Justin Leeth stepping down

NAVASOTA, Tex. (KBTX) - Navasota Police Chief Justin Leeth has requested to step down from his position and seek other opportunities outside of Navasota.

According to City Manager Brad Stafford, Chief Leeth requested to take his remaining vacation time immediately and plans to resign at the end of his vacation time which will happen over the next several weeks.

Stafford says no formal complaints have been filed against Chief Leeth at this time.

In the interim, former Navasota Police Chief Shawn Myatt will act as Chief of Police. He will also continue acting in his current role as Assistant City Manager.

Leeth has been working with the Navasota Police Department since 2005. He was promoted to the role of Police Chief in 2015.
