Next phase of school bond construction happening in Navasota
Big changes are happening at Navasota schools.
The next phase of their $61 million bond is happening now.
Dirt work started last month at Navasota High School. The tennis courts are gone to make way for new projects.
Both the high school and junior high are getting new roofs this summer.
Lots of work is happening inside as well, where the woodshop, welding, floral design classrooms are being remodeled. New programs are also being added, including vet medicine and automotive tech. Those changes should be ready by the start of the new school year.
Navasota High School Principal Derek Bowman said a new bus lane was coming, along with a new science wing. A new science wing and Kickstart complex are also being added at the Junior High.
Parents should expect to see construction there for the next year to year and a half.
Prior to the bond being approved in November 2017, it had been 13 years since a bond was passed.
