One person killed in Grimes County collision

GRIMES COUNTY, Tex. (KBTX)- One person is dead after a fatal collision in Grimes County Thursday afternoon.

DPS say Daryl Brooks, 44, of Mexia died at the hospital Thursday night.

According to officials, Brooks crashed into the read end of the 18-wheeler when it was making a left turn into a private driveway around 4 p.m. near FM 244 at SH 90 north of Anderson.

A medical helicopter transported Brooks from the scene in critical condition to a Bryan hospital where he later died.

DPS say they are still investigating what caused the accident.
