Owner suspects arson after bar catches fire in Bryan

BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX)- The owner of the Green Hornet bar in Bryan has been through this before.

Bryan firefighters early Saturday morning responded to a fire inside the small green building called the Green Hornet that sits near the busy corner of SH 21 and W. Martin Luther King Jr. Street near downtown.

"I think someone is just out to get us. This is our fourth fire here," said Ollie Elam. "There must be surveillance cameras somewhere around here that caught the person doing this."

It's unclear how much damage this fire left behind or where exactly it started, but the city's Fire Marshal is already working to try and determine that.

Nobody was injured in the Saturday morning blaze but Ollie says this is fourth fire at the bar that she inherited from her father after he passed in 2011.

"I think someone wants us to shut down and maybe it's time to give up," she said. "We just finished doing some remodeling from the last fire."

According to previous stories on KBTX, a fire damaged the bar in March this year and investigators called it "suspicious." In December 2015, someone poured gasoline in the bar and attempted to set it on fire, but was unsuccessful.
