Police in Madisonville investigating shooting

MADISONVILLE, Tex. (KBTX) - Police in Madisonville say they're investigating a shooting that happened on Saturday night.

According to reports, police got a call that one person was shot on the 700 block of North Madison Street. The location is a mobile home park and the 100 block of East Lance Street is part of the mobile home park.

In the 100 block of East Lance Street officers located a victim inside of a mobile home in the bathroom area bleeding from his upper left shoulder.

Police say the victim appeared to have been shot at least once in the upper left shoulder. The victim was later identified as 47-year-old Anthony Medina. Medina was airlifted to the hospital.

Police arrested 18-year-old Martin Gonzalez-Zamudio. When officers arrived Gonzalez-Zamudio was sitting outside across the street on East Lance Street at another mobile home.

Madisonville police say officers asked Gonzalez-Zamudio “did he see what happened” and he immediately admitted that he was the person who fired the shots and hitting the victim. A handgun was also recovered at that location.

Crime scene investigators from Madisonville Police Department were able to recover 9 shell casings in the driveway of the victim’s mobile home. There appeared to have been shots fired through the window because of broken glass.

Investigators recovered bullet fragments in the victim’s mobile home, on the floor and some in the walls.

Gonzalez-Zamudio was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm. He was booked into the Madison County Sheriff’s Office Jail. This case is still under investigation by the Madisonville Police Department.
