A public visitation has been scheduled for a local child who was reportedly found in a body of water last month in Galveston County.

Autopsy results are still pending for a positive identification, but authorities believe the child is Hazana Anderson, 1, of Bryan.

Anderson's father, Tabodrick Anderson, along with Callaway-Jones Funeral & Cremation Center have set Saturday, December 8, for family members to receive the public from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. The location is 3001 S College Avenue in Bryan.

Tabodrick and Callaway-Jones have both declined to say if Hazana's body has been released by authorities. A spokesman for the Galveston County Medical Examiner's Office was not immediately available for comment on Monday.

Hazana was beaten and burned before her death, according to arrest records. Her mother, Tiaundra Christon, and her mother's boyfriend, Kenny D'Shawn Hewett, are both facing charges related to the investigation.

Tabodrick Anderson has asked for two things in memory of his daughter.

First, those who wish to provide financial gifts to please consider supporting the work of Scotty’s House, the local child advocacy center, in Hazana’s memory. Checks can be mailed to 2424 Kent St., Bryan, TX 77802.

Scotty’s House can also accept gifts of new toys only.

Second, because winter is here, Anderson realizes that children and youth of all ages need warm clothing and coats of all sizes, especially for children living in poverty. Project Unity will receive and distribute all children’s and youth clothing, plus any gently used toys to bring Christmas joy to those who would be left out.

Callaway-Jones will be the collection center for new toys for Scotty’s House, as well as the children’s clothing and toys for Project Unity through December 19.
