Volunteers needed to help with finishing touches on Queen Theater
The historic Queen Theater in Downtown Bryan is set to reopen to the public in May.
The theater has been undergoing a big renovation project for several years, and will open on May 4, just in time for First Friday.
Before that can happen, the Downtown Bryan Association says they're in need of some volunteers to help out. They will accept anyone who is willing to donate their time, including those with framework and sheet-rocking skills.
They are also looking for volunteers to help put weatherstrips on doors at the theater and to pick up trash around the construction site.
"Cleaning up is always an issue on a construction site and there's not room here in downtown for a huge roll off dumpster to set out back for the period of the construction job," said councilman Ben Hardeman, with the Downtown Bryan Association.
The last time The Queen was open was in the mid 1970s.
When it opens, it will also be available to rent out for parties and businesses.
If you'd like to be a volunteer, contact the Downtown Bryan Association at (979) 822-4920.
