BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX) - By the end of the 2019, Blinn College's Board of Trustees will have no representation from Brazos County.
Right now, the board reserves two of its nine seats for Brazos County members. The legislation that requires this provision expires on Nov. 30.
State Rep. John Raney (R-District 14) says there is an option for Brazos County voters to keep their seats on the board: petition for and hold an election to make Brazos County part of the taxing district for Blinn College.
Raney told KBTX on First News at Four that he is only advocating for a "discussion" and that the decision will need to come from voters and taxpayers themselves, not from him.
"I will abide by the decision that they come up with," said Raney.
