SOS Ministries Founder JJ Ramirez hospitalized after accidental shooting

BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX) - SOS Ministries Founder JJ Ramirez was rushed to a hospital Saturday following an accidental shooting, according to the organization’s board chairman.

He was taken by a medical helicopter to CHI St. Joseph Health in Bryan, where he underwent surgery.

A representative with SOS Ministries told KBTX via Facebook that the family is asking for privacy at this time. The following statement was posted to the Ministries Facebook page.

"Thank you all for your prayers for our Founding Director, JJ Ramirez! JJ is out of surgery and recovering.

While JJ was cleaning where he was staying, a firearm in a bag fell off a shelf and discharged. He is currently in stable condition. While JJ continues to recover, the family asks for privacy and welcomes your continued prayers."
