KIRBYVILLE, Tex. (KBTX)- A former Bryan ISD superintendent may soon be leaving an East Texas school district, KBTX has learned.
The Kirbyville ISD school board will vote Thursday to approve a retirement agreement with Tommy Wallis. Details of the agreement were not immediately available to the public.
Wallis's departure from the Bryan school district was a controversial and complicated issue that ended with a lengthy court battle in which Wallis attempted to keep public records sealed. Those documents alleged multiple allegations of unethical conduct by Wallis during his time at Bryan ISD.
Wallis is still facing a wrongful death lawsuit by the family of a former Kirbyville High School principal who committed suicide on campus.
According to the lawsuit, Wallis confronted Dennis Reeves with an unproven allegation that he was having an affair with his secretary in order to drive him out of his job.
