Police confirm one dead in Saturday car accident

COLLEGE STATION, Tex. (KBTX) - *Update*

College Station police are identifying the person killed in Saturday's accident is Nathan Matos, 22 of New Jersey. He was a Texas A&M University History senior and member of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets, according to the Battalion.

In the car with him was a 22-year-old Texas A&M student from Dallas who is still in the hospital undergoing treatment.

Police added that the driver that left the road is a 22-year-old Texas A&M student and College Station resident who was treated and released from a local medical facility.

College Station police and university officials are investigating the incident.

*As of 8 p.m. Saturday the road has now reopened.*

College Station Police worked a major accident at Holleman Drive and Wellborn Road Saturday afternoon.

News 3's Rusty Surette reports three people were rushed to a hospital. At least one injury may be very critical.

The intersection may be closed for some time, possibly until 9 p.m. according to police.

College Station Police said one vehicle was heading south on Wellborn Road approaching Holleman Drive when it left the roadway for an unknown reason. That vehicle struck another vehicle that was on Holleman Drive waiting to turn. Police said both vehicles had major damage and all the people in both vehicles were taken to area hospitals. Injuries ranged from minor to serious.

KBTX is working on gathering more details from police on how the crash happened.
