Shooting at Texas World Speedway Saturday Night

COLLEGE STATION, Tex. (KBTX) - Shots were fired at the Texas World Speedway during an event Saturday night.

The Brazos County Sheriff's office was called to the scene at 10:30 pm.

One man was injured during the shooting. The extent of the injuries are unclear at this time. However, the victim is currently speaking with investigators while being treated for injuries at Scott and White Hospital.

According to authorities the incident began as a disagreement between two individuals. Eye witnesses told deputies that the attacker and the victim knew each other.

Sheriff Chris Kirk told KBTX the dispute had been festering for a week, and ended with gun shots Saturday. The subject of the argument is still unclear at this time.

No one is currently in custody, however, police do have a person of interest and the investigation is underway.

The event was organized by Four Horseman Trail Ride and Campout. An estimated seven to eight thousand spectators were present at the event Saturday night.

Initially authorities were not letting anyone leave or enter the speedway. However deputies say they evacuated most of the attendees shortly after arriving. Those that were camping out the event during the weekend are still present on the grounds of the speedway.
