Simple exercise circuit to kick off the new year

COLLEGE STATION, Tex. (KBTX) - Getting in shape is a goal that many of us set as a New Year's resolution.

We headed to Gold's Gym in south College Station to get some advice from Fitness Manager, Sam Etheredge.

If you are having trouble getting motivated, Etheredge suggests trying out group fitness. Even if you aren't competitive by nature, being in a class with other people will likely push you to do your best.

All three Gold's Gym locations in Bryan and College Station are offering free boot camp classes from January 2nd-7th. You can look online for the schedule or call one of the locations for more information.

Etheredege also suggests making a fun challenge out of your fitness goals. Involve your family, your fantasy football group, or anyone that can motivate you to keep you going. He says that putting money or something on the line is also a good idea.

Even if you travel or are without gym access for a few days, Etheredge encourages everyone to download an app to keep you moving. There is a Gold's Gym app for their members and there are several other free apps that can lead you in no-equipment workouts.

Etheredge gave an example of a circuit that you can complete at your home that does not require equipment.

Each round of the circuit is two minutes long and there are four moves to go through. Do squats, lunges, push ups, and planks for thirty seconds each.

Do the exercises four times through to complete the circuit and get your heart pumping.

Gold's Gym at Tower Point is located at 1285 Arrington Road in College Station.
