Somerville ISD responds to child left on school bus

SOMERVILLE, Tex. (KBTX) Officials with Somerville ISD are investigating after a child was left on a school bus sometime this week.

Somerville ISD Superintendent Karla Sparks confirmed via email Saturday that an elementary student was left on the school bus after a morning drop-off.

It wasn't clear how long the child was left on the bus.

Sparks says the child is safe and the incident was reported to local authorities.

In a statement to KBTX, Sparks says, "We are working with them (authorities) through the investigation at this time. The safety and well being of SISD students is our number one concern and we are reviewing our current procedures and practices to ensure this type of incident never happens again."
