On Tuesday morning, dozens gathered at Texas A&M University to dedicate the new Spirit Plaza.

Spirit Plaza highlights the solemn Texas A&M traditions of Muster and Silver Taps. The Plaza also has markers that highlight the Aggie Honor Code and the school’s Core Values.

"Particularly, after we found that the Silver Taps sculpture and the Muster sculpture were not in prominent places anymore, they became part of the vision we had for what we wanted to do with the Coward letter, which to us plants a very good scene with incoming freshman," said Bill Howell, Texas A&M class of 1969.

The $560,000 project is a gift from the Class of 1969 to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The Classes of 1972, 1991, 1995 and 2019 were also involved in the Spirit Plaza concept.
