A new world record was set in College Station at the Spirit of Texas Festival.

The largest batch of chili con carne was made weighing 4,800 pounds.

The festival is in its first year and also features a beer garden, live music and food.

More than 150 Aggies volunteered their time to make the festival happen.

"It's been a giant group effort and it's kind of cool to see, even though the rain, it all coming into one big place and a place for the community to get something out of," said Sterling Werner, Spirit of Texas Assistant Director.

Bryan High School students also had a huge Texas pan on display for Frito Pie but they weren't able to put the chili in it due to the rain.

Sunday's events include a food truck competition. The festival opens its final day Sunday at 10 A.M.
