BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX) Students from SFA Middle School's Odyssey Academy are gearing up for their first SeaPerch regional competition.
Five teams were doing trials of their underwater robotics at the Bryan Aquatic Center Tuesday morning.
The goal is to receive points by retrieving rings through hoops and other obstacles in a simulated deep water situation.
Only one team is advancing and win or lose, the students say they have learned a lot from the program.
"It's really an honor and I'm so happy I get to be a part of the program because it so much fun and something I really love to do," said student Trey Gonzalez.
The Regional SeaPerch Competition is in Georgetown on March 2nd.
The students have been working with different types of robots throughout the year, including ones that fly.
