Suspect dislocates officer's shoulder during arrest in downtown Bryan

BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX) - A Bryan Police officer had his should dislocated trying to take a suspect into custody in downtown Bryan early Thursday morning.

Authorities say 54-year-old Earnest Brisby was causing a traffic hazard near the La Salle Hotel just after midnight. The officer approached him and it appeared Brisby was under the influence of drugs.

When the officer tried to arrest him, Brisby took off and tripped. The officer tried to handcuff him on the ground, but Brisby pushed him off onto the sidewalk, dislocating the officer's shoulder.

Six other police officers came to help. Once in custody, they found crack cocaine in his sock.

Brisby is charged with aggravated assault against a public servant, resisting and evading arrest, as well as several drug charges.
