Hazana Anderson autopsy complete; Hewett indicted by grand jury
A suspect in the death of 1-year-old Hazana Anderson of Bryan has been indicted by a grand jury in Galveston County, KBTX has learned.
Kenny Hewett has been indicted on a charge of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence with the intent to impair a human corpse. Anderson's mother, Tiaundra Christon, is also facing charges related to the child's death.
Investigators believe the two are responsible for injuring Hazana at a Houston-area motel last year to the point of death, and then dumping her body into a Galveston County lake.
The indictment obtained by KBTX says Hewett "placed Hazana's body in a body of water."
Galveston County Assistant Criminal District Attorney Patrick Gurski tells KBTX the criminal investigation is ongoing and the autopsy is complete, but results would not be publicly released at this time.
Hewett remains in the Galveston County jail on a $250,000 bond.
Christon is in the Brazos County jail facing multiple charges including the charge of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence with the intent to impair a human corpse.
