Texas Medical Board disciplines Madisonville doctor

MADISONVILLE, Tex. (KBTX)- The Texas Medical Board has taken action against a Brazos Valley doctor.

At its December 7, 2018 meeting, the Texas Medical Board disciplined 23 licensed physicians, including Dr. Phillip Wayne Jones in Madisonville.

According to the board:

"On December 7, 2018, the Board and Phillip Wayne Jones, M.D., entered into an Agreed Order requiring him to have his practice monitored by another physician for eight consecutive monitoring cycles; and within one year complete at least 16 hours of CME, divided as follows: eight hours in risk management and eight hours in medical record keeping.

The Board found Dr. Jones prescribed non-narcotic creams and other medications to at least 10 patients with no evidence that either he or any qualified person adequately examined the patients or established a proper physician-patient relationship with the patients, and failed to maintain adequate medical records for the patients at issue."
