The 'State of American Energy': how the focus has shifted from decades past

BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX) - Natural gas and oil touches virtually every facet of our lives, from heating our home and feuling our cars to life-saving medical devices and cosmetics at the drug store.

The new State of American Energy report outlines how American-made energy is, according to producers, enhancing the economy and improving the environment.

Mike Sommers, the chief executive of the American Petroleum Institute, joined First News at Four to discuss the report.

"How do you keep costs low for the American consumer, while at the same time being wise environmental stewards?" said Sommers. "This industry is stepping up to that challenge."
