The Wright Response: July 6, 2017

BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX) - Can you believe this year is half over? For me, the 4th of July marks the turning point toward the downhill turn to the rest of the year, and here's hoping that you and your family celebrated safely together, taking a moment to truly enjoy the freedoms so many fought and died for – just to protect those freedoms, and – us.

W-J frequently writes in, and, well – this person is a little worked up. I edit some of these comments because I have to. Today, however, it is short enough I'm including it all. W-J is upset with media, all media including KBTX:

"Here is another example of how the Media polls are biased, wrong, and reflect poor journalism. America is tired of this constant misrepresentation of facts by the Media to the point that they no longer impact society in a positive way. Well, the Special Elections are over and those that want to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN are 5 and O! All the Fake News, all the money spent = O. Democrats would do much better as a party if they got together with Republicans on Healthcare, Tax Cuts, Security. Obstruction doesn't work."

I know a take a risk in putting this out there, but two things. One is – if you see what you believe to be "fake news" on KBTX, you have my e-mail and I'm pretty accessible.

Let me know and it will be addressed immediately. Secondly, as a person with a conservative lean anyway, though having never voted straight ticket, as a county, we have to stop bashing each other.

I'll challenge the one phrase where W-J says "democrats would do much better as a party if they got together with Republicans on Healthcare, tax cuts, and Security. Obstruction doesn't work." Instead of the blame game, Republicans own the house, the senate and the presidency.

Seems to me the major party of Republicans need to get together and stop worrying so much about Democrats. Seems like common sense to me, but again – I'm in the media and from Mexia. What could I know?

As the region's most-viewed and trusted news station, we have a lot of on-line viewers.
J-B was watching on-line recently – during our 60th anniversary newscasts. During breaks, there was repetitive content:

"Mike, Maybe it is just me, but I was really disappointed.Seems like every time we turned around they replayed the same segment with Auld Lang Syne. Not nearly enough Crystal, Joe, Brenda and the rest live. But thanks for what we got."

J-B – thanks for the note, and we should have more inventory in rotation. During breaks involving streaming of newscasts, there is separate content than that which you see on-air through KBTX.

A lot has to do with licensing agreements for creative, for music and those type of issues. Our apologies for the repetitive nature of the content – that issue is being addressed, but I hope that information helps in understanding why you see what you do during streaming newscasts.

Finally, a nice note from S-R about News 3's Clay Falls:

"I am writing to express my appreciation of your reporter Clay Falls. I have had several occasions to contact him in regards to an article and he has always quickly, professionally responded back. {}If something needed attention he took care of it. If not he is always willing to go the extra mile to explain. He is a very good reporter and I wished to bring this too your attention."

S-R? Clay Falls IS a great guy, and we thank you for your words.
