BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX) - Texas Monthly recently announced their Best Texas BBQ Bites of 2018 and a few of them are located right here in the Brazos Valley.

A new restaurant in Downtown Bryan, All The Kings Men, had their tasty candied pork belly burnt ends make the list. The thin coat of sauce melds together with the melting fat of the pork, and the gush of juice as you bite into one is so satisfying.

Shane Lewis is a native Texans who loves barbecue and says that she couldn't wait to try out the food at All The Kings Men.

"There are certain things that I think everybody eats or taste and it feels like it touches your soul and that's what this did," she said when tasting her now favorite thing on the menu, candied pork belly burnt ends.

At LJ's in Brenham, you can try one of three meat combo plates. They have a trio of juicy beef sausage, peppery and sweet pork ribs, and smoky brisket to choose from to go along with some signature sides of mac ' cheese and collard greens.

Corey Cook co-owns with his friend, Matt Lowery, did a couple of catering jobs together and they wanted to make their barbecue business a brick and mortar which they opened in June 2017.

"When we start getting the new people coming in from out of town, it feels really good that they want to make the drive and come try our food," said Cook

Priced under $9 a pound, Matus Pit Bar-B-Q pork steak might be the best value in Texas barbecue. They are only open only Saturday and Sunday mornings in Caldwell, and if you wait until noon, the pork steaks (and everything else) might be gone.

Thomas Matus started his business almost 25 years ago and says it all started by accident. "I had a pit outside and I started cooking for my employees and they told me that I should sell this barbecue," said Thomas.

Matus Pit Bar-B-Q is located at 304 W Buck St near the Burleson County Courthouse.
