COLLEGE STATION, Tex. (KBTX) - Local law enforcement officers served the community in a different way on Thursday night.

They took orders and waited tables for Tip-A-Cop at Razzoo's Cajun Cafe in College Station.

They were able to raised $4,788 at the event.

Law enforcement officers from Bryan Police Department, College Station Police Department, the Brazos County Sheriff's Office, Blinn Police Department, Texas A&M University Police Department and Texas Parks and Wildlife helped out the event.

The event is part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run campaign that raises awareness and funds for Special Olympics Texas.

"We try to get some of the Special Olympic athletes to come out to be our superstars. They'll come out here and tell them what the officers are doing out here to help out. They'll sport some of the gear to get them sold as well and then they'll tell them what kind of sports they're involved in when they compete.," said Chris Reyes, with Bryan PD.

All donations from Thursday night go towards the local Special Olympic athletes.
