Treat of the Day: Melvin Drum Scholarship

BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX) - Justin Pollock, the son of Lt John Pollock, was awarded the Melvin Drum scholarship in the amount of $2000 by the Texas Chief Deputies Association at its conference in Kerrvile. Justin was one of five Sheriff’s Office employee family members, from throughout the State of Texas, who were awarded these scholarships to attend college.

Melvin Drum was the Chief Deputy of Ochiltree County. He was killed in the line of duty while on a traffic stop involving a domestic disturbance. Chief Drum was not only an outstanding Chief Deputy but also was extremely involved in his community, especially with youth activities.

These scholarships are academic scholarships for a recipient that is attending or will be attending an accredited college, university, or trade school within the State of Texas.

Justin has been accepted to attend Texas A&M University in the fall of 2019, where he plans to study statistics.
