Two-vehicle accident shuts down road during morning commute

COLLEGE STATION, Tex. (KBTX) -- College Station Police responded to a two-vehicle accident just after 6:00 Monday morning.

It happened on Highway 6 frontage road and Rock Prairie. Investigators say one vehicle was heading westbound on Rock Prairie nearing the intersection of Rock Prairie Road and State High 6 when it collided with another vehicle heading eastbound, trying to make a lefthand turn.

CSPD says high winds caused the signal light arm for westbound traffic to swing out of view, causing the accident.

There was one person in each vehicle, but no one was transported to the hospital.

CSPD closed the intersection for about an hour while they cleaned up the scene.
