VeoRide grows to more than 7,000 users at Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION, Tex. (KBTX) - VeoRide recently entered into an agreement with Texas A&M to provide teal-colored rental bikes and will have over 2,500 bikes by month's end.

Currently there are about 1,200.

KBTX was told they have more 7,000 users so far and there haven't been issues with these bikes that were experienced with ofo.

A big difference between these bikes and ofo is you can get charged up to $600 if you use the bikes improperly.

"You're allowed to ride outside the GeoFence and you can lock the bike if you ride outside the GeoFence. But you'll still continue to be charged. So the theory is that you need to bring the bike back for the ride to end," said Joe Brummer, General Manager of VeoRide on the Texas A&M Campus.

Texas A&M Transportation Services told KBTX ofos are being picked up from campus Thursday. 600 to 800 will be recycled. Transportation Services tells us they'll be donated to various organizations, including a kids camp in Snook.

If you see ofo bikes still in the community you can contact Transportation Services to have them picked up.

They can be called at: (979) 862-7275 (PARK).
