ViaSat breaks ground on new corporate campus in Bryan
Wireless specialists ViaSat is expanding its presence in the Brazos Valley by building a new corporate campus.
The company broke ground on its future facility - an 80,000+ square foot facility that will sit on 8.6 acres on the ATLAS property near the Texas A&M Health & Science Center.
It will also create over 150 jobs and will bring a payroll of $9.6 million to the area.
Traditions Club and ATLAS Principal Spencer Clements says it is the biggest announcements in the region in quite some time due to it attracting big technology companies.
"What's happening now is you're seeing this revolution of people graduating Texas A&M," said Clements, "and they want to stay here and they want to find good employment here."
"I expect that when folks learn more and more about ViaSat and they see what this community is all about," said College Station Mayor Karl Mooney, "they're going to have a facility within this building so that students at A&M can come and practice and get some start-ups going and other opportunities and ViaSat can also take a look at those students, so it's a great win-win for the community."
ViaSat says its completion of the facility will be in the spring of 2018.
