Whataburger executive tells local crowd it's 'business as usual' following sale

BRYAN, Tex. (KBTX)- An executive from Whataburger was in town Wednesday to talk about the fast-food chain's history and its future.

Currently, there are six locations in Brazos County and the company's Chief Restaurant Operating Officer, Rob Rodriguez, says it's "business as usual."

Some Texans were upset last month after learning Whataburger has been acquired by a Chicago-based investment firm, but Rodriguez reassured the local crowd Wednesday that the hamburger hotspot will remain based in the Lone Star State.

"We found a fantastic partner in BDT Capital and they specialize in family-owned businesses like ours and they want to see us grow without changing our recipe for success," said Rodriguez.

Rodriguez was in Bryan as the keynote speaker for the 2019 Leadership Luncheon hosted by the Bryan-College Station Chamber of Commerce.
