Woman charged for leaving infant in bar parking lot

COLLEGE STATION, Tex. (KBTX) – Police in College Station say a woman was arrested after she left an infant in the back seat of a vehicle in a bar parking lot.

According to a report, last month police were called to a bar parking lot on the 1600 block of Texas Avenue because a child was sleeping in the back seat. Police say they observed the child in the vehicle when they arrived.

Police say Myeisha Conerway, who was responsible for watching the child, came outside while police were questioning the owner of the vehicle, who had also come outside from the bar.

Conerway told police she had only gone into the bar to use the restroom, and that she had been dropped off at the location and put the child in her friend’s vehicle.

Police say they contacted the child’s mother, who told police she thought Conerway was taking the child home and didn’t know the child would be left unattended in a vehicle. Police say the child was in the vehicle for 17 minutes and did not have cold weather clothing.

Conerway was arrested and charged with abandoning and endangering a child. In the report, the officer specified Conerway was charged because of the weather being in the mid to low 50s, and because the child was left alone in the bar parking lot during the early morning hours.
