By  |

BRYAN, Tex (KBTX)- Renee Swann is one of 11 Republicans running to replace Representative Bill Flores as District 17’s Congressional Representative.

Swann is from Waco, Texas where she is co-owner of Brazos Eye Surgery of Texas. She is married and has four sons.

Swann participated in the Congressional Candidate Forum hosted by KBTX and KWTX on Jan. 25 held at Texas A&M University’s Rudder Theatre.

KBTX has reached out with additional questions from viewers. Swann has not responded at this time.

On the Issues:

Immigration: Swann wants to secure the border to prevent illegal activity. Swann also supports a merit-based immigration program.

"I believe the border agents, the people themselves with boots on the ground at the location, need to be ones that determine where the physical boundaries are established and built," said Swann at the Candidate Forum on Jan. 25.

Healthcare: Swann believes that removing government regulation empowers people to make their own choices for their families.

"It [healthcare] needs to be deregulated, it needs to be open-market, the individuals need to be able to take responsibility for something that is extremely personable, their own healthcare," said Swann.

Education: Swann wants to expand vocational education in public schools to create more work-ready students.
