Consolidated softball claws back, but falls just short against Magnolia

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – A&M Consolidated Varsity Tigers fought back after falling down by five runs in the second inning. The comeback fell just short though, in a 7-6 defeat to Magnolia on Tuesday. A&M Consolidated Varsity Tigers scored five runs in the failed comeback on a home run by Aiyana Coleman in the second, a home run by Coleman in the fourth, a fielder's choice by Caitlyn Dietert in the fourth, and a walk by Claire Sisco in the seventh.

In the first inning, Magnolia got their offense started scoring one run.

A&M Consolidated Varsity Tigers evened things up at five in the bottom of the fourth inning when #4 induced Dietert to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.

After Magnolia scored two runs in the top of the second, A&M Consolidated Varsity Tigers answered with two of their own. Magnolia scored two runs. A&M Consolidated Varsity Tigers then answered when Coleman homered on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.

A&M Consolidated Varsity Tigers notched three runs in the fourth inning. The offensive onslaught came from a home run by Coleman and a fielder's choice by Dietert.

Mackenzie Mitchell was on the rubber for A&M Consolidated Varsity Tigers. She allowed nine hits over seven innings, striking out six.

A&M Consolidated Varsity Tigers launched two home run on the day. Coleman had a dinger in the second and fourth innings.

Coleman went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead A&M Consolidated Varsity Tigers in hits. Other Tigers with one hit each: Mackenzie Mitchell, Caitlyn Dietert, Cara West, Lauren Herring.

The Lady Tigers committed 2 errors on the night.

The Junior Varsity team lost 10-2. Tigers with hits: Georgia Carrino, Skylar Zaragoza, Alexis Johse, and Analise Zaragoza.
