2018-2019 Classroom Champions class honored at annual banquet Wednesday

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) -- KBTX Media and American Momentum Bank hosted the 24th annual Classroom Champions Banquet Wednesday evening at Christopher's World Grille in Bryan.

33 of this year's 34 classroom champions were on hand to be congratulated for their success not only on the field of competition, but also in the classroom.

KBTX General Manager Josh Young along with Frank Varisco, the Market President - American Momentum Bank Bryan College Station, shared some words of congratulations to the classroom champions and their parents in attendance.

Sam Houston State men's head basketball coach Jason Hooten was this year's guest speaker and didn't sugarcoat things making sure the high school seniors knew that even though things won't go smoothly all the time in college, there is always going to be light at the end of the tunnel.

"It is not going to be easy," said Hooten. "There is going to be days when you are going to go back to your room and you are not going to want to study. There are going to be days when you are going to get a test back and it is not going to be the grade that you want. And it is always easy to say this is not for me, but the hard part is to push forward. And the reason that you push forward is because it is the light at the end of the tunnel. It is always there and there is always an opportunity," concluded Hooten.

With two more classroom champions to crown for the 2018-2019 school year the total of KBTX Classroom Champions will reach 805 dating back to September 1995.
