The A&M Consolidated Tigers (9-1) were the runners-up in District 10-5A Division II and will face Whitehouse (7-3) Friday night in the first round of the playoffs at Tiger Field.
Consol has won 6 in a row and while hosting a first round playoff game is an advantage, it doesn't put any points on the scoreboard.
"We're excited about it, one thing I told them. I brought all the kids in and I learned this from Coach Hoppers when he coached me in high school. You're in the playoffs, but you're not in the playoffs til you win a game in the playoffs. So we're taking them one game at a time. We're in the third series of the season, but we've got to get a win," said A&M Consolidated Head Football Coach Lee Fedora.
A year ago Consolidated beat the Lions 35-7.
Kickoff is set for 7pm Friday night.
