A&M Consolidated softball clinches lead in 7th inning to defeat Magnolia

MAGNOLIA, Texas -- A&M Consolidated Varsity Tigers defeated Magnolia 17-15 on Tuesday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at ten with A&M Consolidated Varsity Tigers batting in the top of the seventh when Lauren Herring singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

A&M Consolidated Varsity Tigers built a seven-run lead in the seventh inning and then held off Magnolia's charge. Magnolia scored five runs in the failed comeback on a single by #10, a wild pitch during #21's at bat, and a home run by #7.

Magnolia evened things up at ten in the bottom of the sixth inning when #2 singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Magnolia scored seven runs in the sixth inning. Magnolia batters contributing to the big inning included #3, #10, #21, and #2, all driving in runs in the frame.

Mackenzie Mitchell was in the circle for A&M Consolidated Varsity Tigers. She went five innings, allowing eight runs on 11 hits, striking out two and walking one.

#4 led things off in the circle for Magnolia. She allowed ten hits and eight runs over four innings, striking out three. #8 threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.

A&M Consolidated Varsity Tigers hit two home runs on the day. Cara West put one out in the seventh inning. Aiyana Coleman had a dinger in the fifth inning.

A&M Consolidated Varsity Tigers totaled 17 hits in the game. Coleman, West, Claire Sisco, Mitchell, and Herring all managed multiple hits for A&M Consolidated Varsity Tigers. Sisco, West, and Coleman each collected three hits.
