COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M men’s golf team will head to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for the two-day General Hackler Championship, played at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club (par 72/7,233 yards). Tee time is set for 6:40 a.m. CT on Monday, March 11 with 36 holes being played on the first day, and will wrap up on Tuesday, March 12, with the 18-hole day beginning at 6:40 a.m. CT. A&M, participating in the General Hackler Championship for the fourth time, will look to improve on its second-place team finish at the event last season.

“We love the Dunes Club and have had a lot of success there in the past,” said head coach J.T. Higgins. “This is a great opportunity for us to get back on track, compete on a good course against some fantastic teams and show what we are made of.”

Senior Chandler Phillips was recently selected to the Palmer Cup U.S. Team, becoming the first American to play the event three times. Phillips is one of three Aggies in Monday’s lineup that have previously played in the General Hackler Championship. Junior Dan Erickson led A&M in its best team finish at the event last season, tying for fourth (69-72-71=212). Junior Brandon Smith rounds out the trio of Championship returnees for the Aggies.

Sophomore Walker Lee, who led A&M to a second-place finish by earning a second-place individual finish at the Burns Intercollegiate will be his debut at the Dunes, along with freshman Sam Bennett. Josh Gliege will also compete in the event as an individual.
