Aggies Wrap Day One at General Hackler Championship

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Texas A&M men's golf team sits in eighth place through the first two rounds of play at the General Hackler Championship. The Aggies struggled on the opening day of play at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club, shooting 4-over 580 (294-286).

"From start to finish we looked great in the practice round, but when it comes to tournament play we're just off, in all areas. Nothing was clicking, we were really struggling to gain any momentum at any time during the day," said head coach J.T. Higgins. "Tomorrow we're going to come out and try to get back to the basics. We have to be a little bit tougher mentally and make some better decisions, but overall it just wasn't a very productive day."

Freshman Sam Bennett leads the Aggies, shooting 1-over to tie him for 34th, while junior Dan Erickson is not far behind, shooting 2-over to tie for 42nd. Junior Josh Gliege, who is competing individually this week, shot even par on the day (71-73=144).

A&M will look to close out the Championship on a positive note as play begins Tuesday morning at 6:40 a.m. CT. Keep up with live updates and results here.
