MORGANTOWN, West Virginia – The No. 19 Texas A&M Aggies face the Fordham Rams in Saturday’s NCAA Morgantown Regional elimination game at Monongalia County Ballpark. First pitch is slated for 1:06 p.m.
The Aggies are looking to bounce back from Friday’s 8-5 loss to the Duke Blue Devils in the regional opener. The Maroon & White will need four consecutive wins to claim the regional crown. Texas A&M has emerged from the losers’ bracket to win a regional title on three occasions, most recently in 2015.
Texas A&M faced Fordham in a three-game series on Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park to open the 2019 campaign. The Maroon & White recorded a sweep, outscoring the Rams 26-7.
Asa Lacy takes the mound for the Aggies. The sophomore southpaw ranks fourth in the nation in hits allowed per nine innings (5.07), eighth in strikeouts per nine innings (13.56), 11th in strikeouts (123) and 40th in ERA (2.20).
The Aggies are 84-78 all-time in NCAA Championship play, including a 71-49 mark in regional action. Texas A&M has won regionals in 1993, ‘99, ‘04, ‘07, ‘08, ‘11, ’15, ’16 and ‘17. They also captured a district playoff title in 1951 before regional play began.
