COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No. 22 Texas A&M Aggies embark on their last weekend tune-up, before the start of SEC play next week, when they host the Gonzaga Bulldogs in a three-game series beginning Friday. Start times are 6:32, 2:02 and 1:02 p.m.
Every game of the series is available for viewing on SEC Network + with Will Johnson and Mark Johnson on the call. SEC Network + provides digital-only events to SEC Network subscribers through WatchESPN and the ESPN app on smartphones, computers, tablets and connected devices (Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, Xbox 360 and Xbox One). All three games will air on the radio locally. Friday’s game will be exclusively on SportsRadio 1550 AM. Saturday and Sunday are on SportsRadio 1150 and/or 102.7 The Zone with Dave South and Scott Clendenin on the call.
Texas A&M enters play on a five-game win streak, including a 3-0 performance in claiming the tournament title at the Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic. Two of Texas A&M’s victories at Minute Maid Park came against top 25 opposition, including No. 18 Baylor (5-2) and No. 17 TCU (1-0).
The Aggies have been dominant in non-conference home games the since 2015, posting an 86-6 mark, including 19-1 in 2018.
Texas A&M Friday starter John Doxakis earned recognition as the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Pitcher of the Month for February. The southpaw has been stellar through three starts, posting a 3-0 record with a 0.43 ERA, 0.48 WHIP and .113 opponent batting average. He ranks fourth in the nation with 32 strikeouts and 13th with a 16.00 K-to-BB ratio.
The Aggies rank in the top 10 in the nation in numerous pitching categories, including Shutouts (3rd - 3), WHIP (5th - 0.95), K-to-BB Ratio (5th - 4.38), ERA (6th - 2.03), Strikeouts Per Nine Innings (9th - 11.6) and Hits Allowed Per Nine Innings (5.89),
Individually, Doxakis ranks third in the nation in WHIP (0.48), fourth in strikeouts (32), 13th in K-to-BB Ratio (16.00) and 25th in Hits Allowed Per Nine Innings (3.43). Asa Lacy ranks seventh in the nation in Strikeouts (30), 14th in Hits Allowed Per Nine Innings (3.00) and 22nd in Strikeouts Per Nine Innings (15.00).
The Aggies own a 2-1 lead in the all-time series as they met for a three-game series in 2011 which included a combined 11-inning shutout by John Stilson and Ross Stripling in a 1-0 victory in the series opener.
