Aggies open SEC Tournament play Wednesday at Davis Diamond

COLLEGE STATION - Texas A&M Softball begins their run at the SEC Tournament with a first round matchup with the Mississippi State Bulldogs Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Davis Diamond.

The game can be seen on SEC Network with Adam Amin (play-by-play), Amanda Scarborough (color) and Tiffany Greene (sideline) calling the action. Authenticated subscribers can access the stream through WatchESPN and the ESPN app on their computers, mobile phones, tablets, smart TVs and other connected devices.

Texas A&M enters the SEC Tournament with a 28-24 (6-18 SEC) record. Kelbi Fortenberry leads the Aggies in numerous offensive categories, including batting average (.347), runs (31), hits (59) and total bases (71). Payton McBride owns a .341 mark and has recorded a team-leading 30 RBI.

In the circle, Kendall Potts paces the pitching staff with a 12-11 record and 3.18 ERA. McBride holds a 9-6 ledger and 3.68 ERA, while Kayla Poynter has tallied four wins as Hannah Mayo has recorded three.

The Maroon & White defeated No. 11 Tennessee last weekend in the regular-season finale as McBride launched the fifth home run of her junior campaign in the 10th inning, recording two RBI. The two-way player earned the win in the circle after only allowing three hits and fanning one in 5.0 innings.

Mississippi State enters Wednesday's contest with a 32-20 (9-15 SEC) record. The Bulldogs are led offensively by Mia Davidson, who has posted a .391 batting average and a .940 slugging percentage, while recording a team-leading 61 RBI and accounting for 41 of the Bulldogs runs. The sophomore leads the SEC in home runs with 25 and total bases with 147. Fa Leilua has blasted 22 home runs while posting a .369 average. In the circle, Emily Williams is 12-7 with a 2.42 ERA. Grace Fagan is 7-7 with a 3.19 ERA on the year while Alyssa Loza is 8-2.

The Aggies and Bulldogs have met 19 times in program history with Texas A&M holding a 10-9 advantage. Last season, the Maroon & White took two-of-three games against Mississippi State in Starkville. The two teams met in the 2018 SEC Tournament in Columbia, Mo., in which the Bulldogs came out on top with a 2-0 victory.

The winner of Wednesday's contest will face off against Ole Miss on Wednesday at 8 p.m. on SEC Network.
