Bagby resigns after one season at Somerville as head football coach

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) -- Somerville High School is looking for a new head football coach after Somerville ISD Superintendent Karla Sparks confirmed Friday afternoon that Greg Bagby has resigned after one season. Sparks said Bagby is going to seek other opportunities.

She added that the resignation was a mutual decision between her and Bagby. He was 1 and 9 in his only season in Somerville.

Bagby was hired last July when Darby House left the district two months prior to the start of high school football pactice.

Sparks said she is looking forward to having more time to fill the Yeguas head coaching vacancy this time around. A year ago she was just settling into her new superintendent role with the district.

Bagby's replacement will be Somerville's sixth head coach dating back to 2014.
