Bryan/College Station, TX – July 9, 2018 – For the second night in a row, the Bombers bats came alive in the middle innings to defeat the Twins at Travis Field. That combined with stellar pitching from the Bombers, provided the team with positive momentum heading into tomorrow’s off day.
The Bombers got on the board first with a solo home run to left field by third baseman Robin Adames. The Bombers would continue to add runs in the third inning, when Cole Coker doubled home Danny Mitchell and DJ Petrinsky doubled home the other run of the inning to make the score 3-0 in favor of the Bombers. The fourth inning saw Christian Sepulveda tie the franchise record for home runs in a season when he hit his seventh home run of the year, followed by RBI hits from Dylan Bonhert and Cole Coker to push the lead to 6-0 Bombers.
The Twins would score their only run of the game in the sixth inning on a RBI triple. The Bombers completed the scoring with a RBI double from Danny Mitchell to give the final score of 7-1 Bombers. The Bombers starting pitcher Jesse Heikkinen was very effective in his six innings of work, allowing just the one run on 3 hits and 1 walk, recording 5 strikeouts. The Bombers bullpen closed out the game with three scoreless innings and again shut down the Twins lineup.
The Bombers are off tomorrow before taking on the US Military All-Star team in a scrimmage, Wednesday night at 7:05 at Travis Field. The Bombers then head out on the road to take on the Acadiana Cane Cutters.
