Bryan/College Station, TX – February 11, 2019 - The Brazos Valley Bombers have gone out of state and added two Oklahoma State players to the 2019 roster. The pitching and catching duo, Jake Lyons and Jake Taylor, will travel down to the Brazos Valley this summer to help bring the TCL Championship back to the Bombers.
When asked about the two incoming Cowboys, Bombers’ Coach
Nelson said “we are really excited about our Oklahoma State Cowboys this summer. Coach Holliday does a great job recruiting high talent and high character individuals and we think we got a couple with Jake Taylor and Jake Lyons”.
Jake Taylor, a 25th round draft pick by the Atlanta Braves
in 2017, played in 26 games and saw over 90 at-bats for Oklahoma State University as a freshman. Coach Nelson said “Jake is a phenomenal athlete who saw some significant innings last year for oklahoma state, so he's going to be looking to build on that.”
Jake Lyons, a junior right-handed pitcher, will be starting
his first year at Oklahoma State University. Lyons spent his first two years of collegiate baseball at Weatherford Junior College where he put together two solid seasons of pitching over 80 innings and striking out over 100 batters each season. “Jake is a
workhorse kind of a pitcher” said Coach Nelson. Just like his teammate, Jake Taylor, Lyons was drafted in 2017 by the San Diego Padres in the 22nd round. Lyons’ finished his career at Weatherford with a record of 16-5, 223 strikeouts and a 3.00 ERA in 168
