BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) -- The Brenham Cub Baseball program will be under new leadership in the 2019-2020 school year.

The Brenham Independent School District has high standards for students, staff and programs and we assure our community that the rich tradition of excellence will continue with Cub Baseball.

The position for head baseball coach has been posted and the district is launching a statewide search for the best possible candidate. The Brenham Independent School District remains committed to ensuring the highest quality programming for our students.

Today's release from Brenham ISD comes just over a month after the Cubs failed to qualify for the playoffs for the first time in 36 seasons according to KWHI Radio.

Williams had a .665 winning percentage in six seasons posting a record of 161-82.

During his six seasons in the Cubs dugout Williams guided Brenham to three district championships (2014, '15, and '17) with the programs deepest run coming two years ago when Brenham advanced to the regionals finals, but lost to eventual state champion Port Neches-Groves.
